merge pantools_v3.4 with read the docs documentation to release

Merged Esch, Roel van requested to merge pantools_v3.4 into release
  • added 3.4 documentation retrieved from earlier commit 80800709
  • updated install info in documentation to use the v3.4 tag
  • added some changes in the 3.5 manual that also applied to this version (spelling, missing reference etc.)
